Malta's Leading Winemaker:
Delicata is Malta's oldest and largest family owned and run winery established
in 1907. A fresh approach to viticulture coupled with clever winemaking by
managing director George Delicata are making his fruit-turboed wines acquire
international acclaim. The company has amassed over 75 medals, awards and
commendations for their quality wines made from international and indigenous
grape varieties. Their new winemaking facility is state of the art and a sign of
the wind of change that has blown through Malta's leading wineries. Their Medina
brand of wines is one of the mainstays of Maltese restaurant wine lists and well
worth tasting.#
Useful information:
Delicata open their winery doors happily to visiting wine and food
journalists and the media in general. Visits are by appointment only from Monday
to Friday between 10.00 hrs and 16.00 hrs. Group visits can be arranged as well,
and individual tourists are welcome to sit in too.
English, French and Dutch spoken.
Sessions are usually against a fee; expect to pay € 5.
The winery has no gift shop but
Delicata wines are most widely available throughout the Maltese Islands.#
